Kittery voters approved the school board’s $23.9 million budget in Tuesday’s referendum vote, according to unofficial election results.
A total of 2,386 residents, or about 81% of voters, supported the budget, while 526 voted against it.
Notable funding plans included in the budget are staffing cuts to account for lower enrollment, planned raises per a newly settled contract, significant growth in the special education budget and sustaining a self-funded nutrition program.
The budget is a 2.4% increase from last year’s and will require an expected tax hike of 4.9%.
