The spring season, and the 2025-26 Maine high school sports year, come down to this. Twenty-eight teams will be battling Friday and Saturday for 14 state championships in girls lacrosse, boys lacrosse, softball and baseball. Follow along as Varsity Maine provides updates of each game.

This is the Raiders’ first state title since winning back to back Class C championships in 1982-83.
Low throw to first base allows Cony’s Josh Lajoie to reach base. Anderson Noyes up. If he gets on, Parker Morin follows him.
Fryeburg’s first two batters of the inning were on first and second, but Cony again got out of the jam without allowing another run.
The Rams have been escape artists, but they haven’t been able to add runs. They have three outs left.

After a disastrous start, the Howlers start cutting into the Panthers’ lead.
Cony pitcher Ben Allen picks off a runner at second base, then retires the side.
Fryeburg has seemed on the verge of breaking this open a few times, but Cony keeps making big plays on defense.
Nolan Noyes bunts the bases loaded with an expertly placed bunt, then Wyatt McKenney brings in a run with a sacrifice fly, but the Raiders get out of the inning with a nice double play.
Class B baseball championship.
The Raiders add one run, but Cony gets out of a bases-loaded jam.
Class D softball championship
Abby Sweeney and Mia Desgrosseilliers both had two-run hits for Panthers during their 10-run first.
Class D softball update: NYA has plated five runs and leads Penobscot Valley 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
Class B baseball championship. Exciting start to this one.

Cony scores on a sacrifice fly by Max Tibbetts. Parker Morin advanced to third on that play, then stole home when the Rams pulled off a double steal.

Delay in Class D softball because the sprinklers went off and muddied the pitching circle. MPA outgoing director Mike Bisson and incoming director Mike Burnham helped rake the area.
NYA and Penobscot Valley tied 0-0, middle of the 1st inning.

The Class A baseball championship game is on its way to the bottom of the ninth inning.

Monmouth pitcher Levi Laverdiere overcomes four-run first inning, doesn’t allow another run and pitches a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Class C baseball. After giving up the lead, the Raiders have a chance to get it back and win the state title.

Bangor’s Ethan Sproul thrown out at second trying to stretch a single into a double.

The Tiger win first state title since 1999.

Class A softball. Piper Parker singles home Cat Facchini to get the Broncos within a run. Hampden has a runner on second, two outs, bottom 7th.
Class A baseball. Miles Brenner retires Bangor 1-2-3.

Class D baseball. Telstar loads the bases again — this time with no outs — but still can’t score.
Class C softball. Leah Turnbull’s RBI single and Lana Waite’s two-run double give the Cougars a four-run lead.
Class A baseball. Jacob Harvey sacrifice fly scores Gavin Glanville-True to tie the game with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.
Bangor has answered Gorham’s two runs in the top of the sixth.

Class C baseball. The Mustangs escaped a bases-loaded situation to stay within a run.
Class A baseball. Sawyer Smith bunts home Miles Brenner for the first run of the game. Still bases loaded with one out.
Class A baseball. Gorham’s Hunter Finck leads off the sixth with a single, then Miles Brenner is hit by a pitch to give Gorham two runners on with no outs.
Class C baseball. Monmouth scores in the fourth on a single to right and a squeeze bunt.
Class D baseball. The Tigers plate three runs in their half of the third, while the Rebels loaded the bases but didn’t get a run across.
Class B softball. The Panthers scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run double by Jennika Schumann and a two-run single by McKenna Hertel.
Class A softball: Hampden ends Addison DeRoche’s no-hit bid with two hits, including a double by Cat Facchini that scored Mariah Coon.
Class C softball. Dirigo outfielder Abby MacFarlane’s throw home beats Avery Robshaw for the final out of the bottom of the fourth. Robshaw tried to score from second base on a double by Alivia Shute.
Class C softball. Dirigo strands a runner at third as Bucksport pitcher Marina Keene strikes out fourth batter of the game.
Class D baseball. Bryson Walker with six strikeouts for the Rebels.

Class B softball: Gardiner strands two as Sidney Nicholls gets out of a first-inning jam with her first strikeout of the game.
Gardiner 0 Medomak Valley 0 – mid first.
Gardiner’s Molly Takatsu hits a one-out single and advances to second on an error. That’s significant because Medomak Valley pitcher Sidney Nicholls has been unhittable, and she has 10 no-hitters. It’s also significant because Gardiner chased Nicholls after 1/3 of an inning in teams’ regular season meeting, during which the Tigers scored 17 of the 29 runs the Panthers have allowed this season.
The Class C boys lacrosse final between NYA and Maranacook/Winthrop is underway.
The Class B softball championship between Medomak Valley and Gardiner is about to start.

Maranacook/Winthrop beats NYA 13-3 to win its second straight Class C girls lacrosse championship.

York is playing in its fourth straight state final (and fourth overall), and the Wildcats have won one state title (2023).
The Class B boys lacrosse final between York and Marshwood is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.

This is the Rangers’ fourth state championship — all of them won in the past five seasons (2022, ’23, ’24 and ’26).
The Rangers take a three-goal lead on a second-chance goal. Not sure who scored.
