From the Madison Square Garden venue, to the confirmation of their nuptials being displayed on a Jumbotron outside of the arena, the whole spectacle has been branded “performative” and “tacky,” with many left in disbelief that the couple had over 1,000 guests — and that Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
The more divisive attendees include Brad Pitt and Steven J. Demetriou, who you can read more about here. In addition, New York locals were left frustrated by disruptive road closures ahead of the holiday weekend in areas surrounding the wedding venue, and by parts of the city losing power during a heatwave on the day, while famous faces enjoyed the lavish celebration without interruption just blocks away.
And, in addition to all of the above, we have had a host of news reports about the event. Undisputed claims appear to include Taylor walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of her own song, “Love Story,” and having some pretty surprising lyrics from her track “Blank Space” embroidered onto handkerchiefs for guests.
Other claims, however, have now been vehemently disputed by one of the guests, who left an impassioned comment on an Instagram reel criticizing the wedding off the back of an unverified Daily Mail report. Internet personality Zack Peter rehashed the report for an episode of his podcast, No Filter, which included claims that guests found the wedding “tacky” and “chaotic.”
Per the Daily Mail, guests apparently felt as though they weren’t valued by the happy couple, with champagne running out “really early” into the evening, and long lines forming for the “not great” buffet food on offer. It was also reported that many A-list stars had to eat standing up because there were not enough chairs for everybody, with the same alleged for the ceremony — which reportedly included vows from both Travis and Taylor that amounted to a total of 40 minutes.
The publication added that Taylor had a “cringe-inducing system” that ranked the 1,000 attendees on their importance to the bride, with more VIP guests being given a later arrival time, so that they spent less time hanging around waiting for the celebrations to begin. They were also, per the report, the ones allocated seats for the ceremony.
In a clip from his podcast that he shared to his popular Instagram page, Zack repeated all of these claims before concluding: “Hell to the no; that’s where I draw the line, Taylor Swift,” and an official wedding guest took this reel as their opportunity to set the record straight.
Commenting on Zack’s post, Tavia Hunt wrote: “This is such a false narrative. They did not run out of champagne. There were not long lines. Every single person was seated for the ceremony. The vows were spectacular — beautiful, heartfelt, and absolutely perfect.”
If you’re wondering, Tavia is the wife of Clark Hunt, who owns the Kansas City Chiefs, which is, of course, the NFL team that Travis plays for.
“It could not have been a more fabulous experience,” Tavia went on. “And frankly, it is inappropriate to say things like this when you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about. That is hearsay — not truth.”
Tavia’s shutdown comes after People lifted the lid on some more details from the day, with an insider saying that “the food was endless,” with pasta in a Parmesan wheel, sushi, steak, seafood, burgers, and fries being on offer. They added that there were also “bars everywhere.”
As for dessert, after TMZ revealed that the couple decided against a traditional wedding cake and instead had a huge dessert table with different options, People has added that some of these desserts included cookies, pastries, and even Pop-Tarts.
