THE OLD CHESTNUT, the one that says sea air and salty vibes and cool June mornings have a way of stoking the appetite, may be onto something real. Or maybe it is simply the fact that the flavors of a scenic spot like Carmel-by-the-Sea are so tempting, and tangy, and toothsome, that are hankerings feel more pronounced once we arrive, whether the breezes are briny or not. Thank that bracing ocean atmosphere, or the fact that there is a top-notch restaurant just about every few yards in Carmel, for those hankerings. And one of the yummiest ways to connect with the cuisine that has made Carmel such a paragon of perfect plates around the Monterey Peninsula? Make time to swing by Carmel-by-the-Sea Culinary Week, an annual celebration that boasts special events and memorable meals around town.
THE 2026 CELEBRATION… is turning up the sizzle from June 5 through 13, with a ticketed Party at the Plaza to launch the dine-around affair. There are a few get-glammy gatherings on the schedule, as well as several prix fixe and curated menus popping up at local restaurants. VIN by the Sea has a three-courser featuring a choice between Monterey Black Cod or Crisply Louisiana Chicken Karaage, and Parisian Gnocchi to start, while Seventh & Dolores is going with Fried Chicken and sparkling wine. You can find all of the temptations on the Culinary Week site, as well as spotlights on other goodies like the Special Salmon Smashburger and Tuna Sliders at Toro. A few eateries have intriguing pop-ups, too, like a sound bath at Il Tegamino (you’ll also sip “… a glass of wine in Carmel’s first historic courtyard”). For the full schedule, the deals, the dishes, and the stand-out events, break like a wave on beautiful Carmel Beach at this site.
