The University of Rhode Island student senate learned how to strengthen their professional presence and prepare for future careers Wednesday meeting.

Career Education Specialist Angela Quagliaroli talked about resources offered through the Center for Career and Experiential Education.

Quagliaroli introduced students to the university’s career clusters, including business, data analytics, education, health services, engineering and humanities.

Each major falls within a specific cluster, allowing students to access specialized career support, according to Quagliaroli.  

“We work together to make sure you feel prepared for your next steps,” Quagliaroli said. 

CCEE is currently developing a new website and welcomes feedback from students, according to Quagliaroli. Students should use the career center online to find more resources and updates. 

Quagliaroli showed students how to find their assigned career education specialist through the CCEE website. While each advisor works with specific majors, all staff members collaborate to support students. 

Quagliaroli also talked about the services offered by the CCEE, including resume reviews, cover letter assistance, career exploration and interview preparation. She described mock interviews as one of the center’s most valuable tools, allowing students to practice and receive feedback before actual job interviews. 

Quagliaroli focused on the importance of LinkedIn as a professional networking platform and asked students how many actively use LinkedIn and encouraged greater engagement.

 “If you remember anything from tonight, remember CCEE,” Quagliaroli said.

The student senate will meet again on Wednesday, Feb. 18 in Memorial Union room 300 at 6:30 p.m.
