Fans of Love Island have demanded that producers introduce a 'diabolical' twist before one of the most dramatic moments of the series.
As the 13th season of ITV's hit reality dating series fast approaches its final full week some viewers are already anticipating the latest iteration of The Grafties. For those unaware, it is essentially a makeshift awards ceremony hosted at the villa for the Islanders.
It has become a staple of the series and a regular source of drama, confrontations and even viewer complaints at times. The Grafties usually occur during the penultimate week of the season.
Various categories are presented for public voting, with footage provided as evidence of each nomination shown to the Islanders similar to a condensed Movie Night.
Similar to Movie Night, this often includes clips of moments that contestants would prefer remained private. Immediately after this, results of the public vote, often held on social media are revealed.
The winner or winners are invited to collect their award and make a speech. Categories from last year included: Best No Filter Moment; Most Emotional Moment; Best Double Act; Unfinished Business; Flirtiest Performance and Eat, Sleep, Crack On, Repeat Award.
However, some fans have started to express their concern in anticipation of this year's Grafties. They are concerned that the most dramatic moments have already been shown during Movie Night and there will be no dramatic revelations to be had.
In a post on the Love Island UK subreddit they said: "At the moment the Grafties 2026 is looking like it might be a snooze fest, everything has been aired at movie night and with the current group of islander there isn't much to show."
But they have a suggestion for a never before seen twist to give it an extra edge. They continued: "Therefore, I think they should bring back ex Islanders to either present awards or to accept them. They fly most of the cast out for the final dumping vote and the final so why not have the Grafites at the same time as the last dumping vote?
"Make all Islanders, current and dumped eligible for awards and treat it like a reunion mixed in with the final vote. Have it at night too seeing as they love that twist this year. If they cant do it then to save money have ex-Islanders still eligible for awards and have them send a video message accepting it."
Some agreed with the premise as one person replied: "YESSS this is such a good idea. They DEFINITELY need to do this!!"
Not everyone was convinced by the idea, though. One person suggested an alternative based on another international version of the show.
They put forward: "If they’re going to bring back past Islanders I think it should be to question the remaining islanders. They’ve done this on Australia with the Truth Bike and it was diabolical because the returned Islanders had all the outside goss."
The Truth Bike is a feature exclusive to Love Island Australia and has not been seen in the UK version. It forces Islanders to ride a stationary bike while answering yes or no questions.
They must ring the bell for 'yes' or sound its horn for 'no'. However there doesn't seem to be any consequences are assurances that the Islanders tell the truth except that questions are designed to stir up drama and conflict.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
