Police say a security alert in the Manse Road area of Castlereagh has now ended and declared the incident "an elaborate hoax".
Officers received a report of a suspicious device in the area at approximately 2.40pm on Friday afternoon, July 10.PSNI Chief Inspector Adams said: “Officers attended the scene, together with assistance from Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) who conducted a controlled explosion.“The device has been declared as an elaborate hoax – and all cordons have been lifted from the area.“We appreciate the disruption as this public safety operation was carried out, and we thank members of the public, including road users, for their understanding and patience during this time.“Our enquiries are ongoing, and we would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 920 10/07/26.”You can also submit a report or information online using the non-emergency reporting form via https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals. Security alert remains ongoing on Saturday morning
The security alert on Manse Road remains ongoing this morning.
Officers remain at the scene and the road is still closed.
Police have said they will provide an update in due course.

Councillor asks public to follow police advice
Local Alliance councillor Jamie Harpur has said the public should follow police advice and that he has spoken with neighbourhood officers.
He has said ammuntion technical officers are on the scene and asked local residents to avoid the area until the incident has been resolved.
