The classes were suspended at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod City after receiving an alleged bomb threat.

On Thursday afternoon (July 16, 2026), the students of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City were sent home after a security concern prompted school officials to suspend classes and office operations as a precautionary measure.

The situation began when school authorities received information about a possible security threat within the campus.

To ensure the safety of students, faculty members, and staff, the university immediately coordinated with law enforcement agencies and temporarily halted all afternoon activities while an investigation was conducted.

Police officers quickly arrived at the UNO-R Integrated School building to inspect the area and help secure the campus. School administrators also worked closely with authorities to assess the situation and determine whether there was any actual danger to the community.

However, Bacolod City Police Office Director Police Colonel Eugene Rebadomia later clarified that there was no bomb threat inside the university.

According to the police investigation, the report received by Police Station 6 came from the school’s security office. Authorities were informed that two students had reportedly found two bullets along with a written note on a staircase inside the school premises.

Police immediately responded to the report and began gathering information to determine how the bullets ended up on campus and whether there was any connection to a larger security issue. Authorities stressed that the ongoing investigation was focused on understanding the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review the incident. Meanwhile, school officials have assured the community that they will remain vigilant and continue working closely with law enforcement to maintain campus safety.
