92-Year-Old Grandmother Fails to Receive 10kg of Rice from Local Government Support Fund

A 92-year-old grandmother expressed her disappointment after she failed to receive 10 kilograms of rice distributed through the Local Government Support Fund.

An elderly resident of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro expressed disappointment after initially failing to receive the 10 kilos of rice being distributed under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) program of the national government.

On Tuesday (July 14, 2026), the woman, identified as Patria Castillo of Barangay Sto. Niño, spent nearly three hours waiting at a distribution site, hoping to receive the rice assistance. However, she became frustrated after learning that her name did not appear on the list of beneficiaries being served that day.

However, additional information later clarified several details surrounding the incident. Authorities explained that Castillo was not 92 years old as initially reported. Based on available records, she was born in 1953, making her 72 years old in 2026.

Officials also clarified that her name had actually been included in the master list submitted by local personnel responsible for identifying beneficiaries.

The problem arose because the validation process conducted by the agency in charge of verifying qualified recipients had not yet been completed at the time of the first distribution.

As a result, her name did not appear on the validated list used during the initial release of rice assistance. Officials stressed that she was not excluded from the program and that the delay was caused by the ongoing verification process.

After the necessary validation was completed, Castillo was eventually able to receive the 10 kilos of rice intended for qualified beneficiaries.

The clarification helped address misunderstandings that circulated online and provided a clearer picture of what happened during the distribution process.
