The agreement with AIRI and Sberbank was signed on the sidelines of Innoprom

The development and implementation of AI technologies in key industries will be handled by the team of the joint research laboratory of the AIRI Institute, Sber and Ural Federal University at the "Artificial Intelligence" educational and scientific centre of the UrFU Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems.

"It is especially important for the university that AI develops not in isolation from real production, but where it can help solve specific engineering problems. The joint laboratory with partners will allow us to combine science, industry and the training of students who will be able to apply AI in the interests of the Ural and Russian economies," said Ilya Obabkov, Rector of UrFU.

It is assumed that the new laboratory will combine fundamental research in the field of machine learning with practical tasks of enterprises, and the technologies being developed will be focused not only on obtaining new scientific results, but also on subsequent validation and pilot implementation at the production sites of partners.

One of the key areas of work will be the creation of predictive analytics systems that can predict the technical condition of industrial equipment and prevent emergency shutdowns. Researchers will develop methods for analyzing multidimensional sensory data flows using modern self-learning approaches, graph neural networks and models for estimating the remaining life of equipment that can work effectively even in conditions of limited data markup and differences between production processes.

The Innoprom Industrial Exhibition and Forum are taking place in Ekaterinburg on July 6-9.
