The university is testing new modules in the pilot program

On June 29, the UrFU delegation headed by Rector Ilya Obabkov worked in Tyumen at the "Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education" forum.

Valery Falkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, gave a start to the discussion platform. He stressed that it is important to apply AI in universities not through prohibitions and restrictions, but through high standards of academic culture and a properly structured educational process.

He proposed to include two mandatory modules on AI in the new model of higher education. The first one is basic, which all students should study regardless of their field of study. The second one is a professional one, dedicated to the application of AI technologies in a specific specialty – engineering, medicine, law, economics, history and other fields.

In particular, it is planned to develop a unified digital educational platform and a student support system. Besides UrFU, it is proposed to test the basic module on other universities that are participants of the pilot project on the transition to a new model of higher education.
