The Volkswagen Atlas receives a substantial makeover for the 2027 model year, with the second-generation mid-size SUV sporting a handsome new face, a revised four-cylinder engine, and a reworked cabin with a large screen and fancy ambient lighting. But the Atlas's improvements come at a cost. Volkswagen has announced pricing for the 2027 lineup, and its $43,135 starting price represents a $2350 increase versus the 2026 model.

That price tag applies to the base SE trim in front-wheel-drive form, with the optional 4Motion all-wheel-drive system bumping the price up by $2000 to $45,135. The SE packs plenty of standard content, including heated side mirrors with an auto-dim feature on the driver's side, a power lift gate, and front and rear parking sensors. Inside, there's real wood trim, 10-color ambient lighting, a nine-speaker sound system, and a pair of wireless 15-watt phone chargers. The 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, standard across the lineup, is joined here by a 12.9-inch touchscreen.

Moving up to the SE with Technology trim sees the price rise to $47,135 for front-wheel drive, $1930 more than in 2026, with all-wheel drive once again an additional $2000. The extra cash nets a flashier look, upgrading from 18-inch wheels to 20-inchers and adding illuminated front and rear badges, LED strips in the grille, and illuminated door handles. Inside, there's even more ambient lighting, while the standard touchscreen is replaced by a new 15-inch unit.

The SEL R-Line trim now costs $2540 more than last year, starting at $53,635 and coming standard with all-wheel drive. The R-Line moniker means sportier-looking bumpers and black trim, also adding full LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, 30-color ambient lighting, and heated and ventilated outboard seats in the second row. The seats are also wrapped in Varenna leather, and the passenger seat adds 12-way power adjustability with four-way lumbar support.

At the top of the lineup sits the SEL Premium R-Line, starting at $58,135 with standard all-wheel drive, $2030 more than in 2026. The priciest Atlas gains 21-inch wheels, puddle lights that display the VW logo, power-folding mirrors, nappa leather seats, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and a massage function for the front seats. The 2027 Atlas will go on sale this fall and will continue to be assembled at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
