A man who has travelled to every country in the world has revealed the destinations that shook the tourist up, including one in particular that felt like a real-life horror movie.

Former filmmaker Michael Zervos managed to jet off to all 195 countries in just 499 days.

The trip, which started three years ago, saw the Greek-American ask locals what the happiest day of their life was to explore what brings joy to people in different areas.

He enjoyed visiting several countries, including Liechtenstein and Madagascar, but Michael's adventure wasn't completely smooth sailing, and he revealed to The Mirror the places he didn't have pleasant experiences too. 

One destination that felt like a 'horror movie' was in the capital of Guyana, Georgetown.

He was warned not to explore Stabroek Market by locals but still went.

The traveller told the publication: 'It is one of those warehouse-style markets. Drugs are traded openly, and there is sex work as well. 

'As soon as I walked in, it was like a horror movie.'

Michael recalled seeing a man staring at him continuously and even began to follow him down another aisle. 

'My intuition was to go somewhere else.'

The UK Foreign Office warns of high crime level in the country alongside low police capacity.

The website states, 'There are frequent armed robberies, hold-ups, carjackings and other violent crimes, often involving 2 or more attackers.

'Passers-by can get caught up in gunfire even if they are not targets because police are armed and shoot back.

The advice adds: 'Muggers can attack in broad daylight, often holding their victims at gunpoint or knifepoint.

'They may target tourists, particularly if those that show obvious signs of wealth.'

It also mentions areas in Georgetown where visitors are most at risk, including the Stabroek Market area 'where robberies are a daily occurrence'.

Given how quickly Michael travelled around the world, he only visited each country briefly, but another location that unsettled him was Liberia.

Whilst he was there, he took a photograph of a government building and found himself caught up in a 'money-making scheme'.

Things took a turn when Michael refused to cough up and was taken to jail. 

Aside from the tricky encounter, the globetrotter didn't feel completely at ease elsewhere in the country.

Michael explained: 'There was a sensation in the back of your neck where something was amiss.'
