Korg’s latest release introduces a new analogue mixer that’s been designed to act as a hub for live electronic music performances, and comes supplied as a simple DIY kit that requires no soldering. As you might expect, the NTS-4 has been built with the likes of the company’s Volca series and NTS instruments in mind, but also offers a convenient solution to users of Eurorack modular rigs and desktop synths.

The NTS-4 is the fourth addition to the Nu:Tekt series. As with its siblings, the new unit requires self-assembly, although Korg say it’s a simple process that takes just minutes to complete. Once they’re done building, users are left with a six-channel, palm-sized desktop mixer that’s ready for extended use in the studio, on stage or out and about.

There are six channels, each of which is equipped with its own Cue and Mute buttons — in DJ mixer style, the former routes the channel’s signal to the headphone output. The bulk of the unit’s I/O is handled by 3.5mm TRS sockets, and thanks to switchable attenuators on the mono inputs, there’s enough headroom to accommodate Eurorack signal levels. Each channel also features an effects send, and the NTS-4 offers a choice of seven built-in effects as well as providing send/return connections that can be used to hook up external hardware. Along with its analogue connectivity, the mixer also includes a built-in USB-C audio interface and provides a MIDI output.
