It's being hailed as 'the highlight of the summer'

A huge food and drink festival will be returning to Bury this weekend featuring independent traders, live music and artisan markets.

Now in its third year, the Bury BID Food and Drink Festival will take place from Friday to Sunday (July 24-26) and will see the town centre transformed into a foodie haven.

Festivities will kick off on Friday with Beers & Bands, which will take place on Bank Street from 6pm. It will feature live music from Fleetwood Mad and Bay Byran, as well as locally-produced drinks and food vendors.

Also on Friday will be a series of Festival Fringe events taking place at bars and venues across Broad Street, Silver Street, Bolton Street, and Market Place, including performances from indie-folk Bolton singer Felix Hill and a live acoustic set from Steve O’Toole.

Over the weekend, there will be a varied line up of street food, sweet treats and baked delights from big favourites. There will be the Latin-inspired La Puerta Roja, award-worthy tacos from El Dorado Taqueria, authentic Turkish dishes from Istanbul’s Kitchen, and top-tier New York-style pizzas from Fratelli Della Pizza.

There will also be a Hong Kong Market at Kay Gardens featuring more than 50 traders specialising in Asian street food and culture, whilst the world-famous Bury Market will also be open on Friday and Saturday for people to peruse the aisles of regular and long-standing traders.

Live performances will also take place across the weekend with an emerging artist showcase at The Rock. Between 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, there will be performances from the likes of Charlotte Kinsella, Leah B, Sad Sells, Sarah Adams, Ben P Williams and Coruja Jones.

Nigel Shields, Town Centre Director at Bury BID, commented: “The Bury BID Food And Drink festival is set to be the highlight of the summer and we can’t wait to welcome visitors to the town centre to experience a fantastic weekend of the best food, drink and live entertainment. It’s such a special weekend and we look forward to welcoming visitors from across the North West.”

Sponsored by Dunsters Farm, the festival - which is a partnership event by Bury BID, Bury Market and Bury Council - is free to attend throughout the entire weekend. Full line-up can be found here.
