CT Trails Day returns this weekend

Дата публикации: 02-06-2026 16:07:36

CT Trails Day returns on June 6-7, with over 200 free events across the state.
Trails Day isn’t unique for Connecticut. In fact, it’s celebrated across the country in partnership with the American Hiking Society.
But Connecticut stands out from the rest with the most events and the highest participation of any other state.
This year, there will be nearly 200 events spread out over almost every part of the state between Saturday and Sunday.
“Everybody lives about 15 minutes [from] an event,” said Chuck Toal, from the Connecticut Forest & Parks Association, who coordinates the event.
For a smaller state, Connecticut has a lot of trails. The Connecticut Forest & Parks Association manages 825 miles of “Blue Blazed Trails” alone.
Connecticut has plenty of other trails, like Rails-to-Trails, State Park and Forest trails, mountain biking trails, and even paddling trails on rivers and along coastal areas.
When headed outdoors, remember to bring water to stay hydrated, wear appropriate shoes, dress for the weather, and wear light-colored clothes to easily spot ticks and other bugs.
The hikes this weekend are broken up into three categories: easy, moderate, and hard
If you haven’t done one of the hikes before, an experienced guide will be there to show you the way and also point out specific features in nature along the way.
Some events limit the number of people who can participate, while others have no restrictions.
It’s best to register for the events you’d like to attend so the guide has your information and can contact you if there is a change in plans.
