John Eustace says he has spoken to Derby County's hierarchy about potential investment but says his immediate focus is getting the team ready for next weekend's Carabao Cup tie with Lincoln City.
Boxing billionaire Turki Alalshikh is closing in on a deal that could be a gamechanging moment in the club's history amid growing optimism the deal will ratified in the next few days.
Should the move be completed, Derby will be backed by the wealth of Alalshikh whose net worth stands at around £2.8bn, making them one of the richest clubs in the Championship.
That would greatly enhance the calibre of player Derby would be able to attract, but the exact terms of the deal have yet to be confirmed.
Derby head coach Eustace says he has spoken to the club about the situation, but said until the deal is done, his priority is getting the squad into shape although it is in need of reinforcements particularly in the wide areas and midfield.
"You hear different things through the media obviously," he said. "I have spoken to the club, and they have mentioned there is a takeover. But I think there have been about three takeovers since I've been here, with people trying to buy the club.
"It was the same at my previous clubs, too. Until something is done, I will take it seriously. Until then, all I am focused on is preparing the team as best I can so we can get off to a really competitive start next week.
"We did really well to finish eighth last season. We had a really competitive team, and you can see 15 clubs all wanting to get into the top eight. They've got huge budgets, they've all kept their squads from last year and added to them.
"We finished ahead of some really top teams last year, and they will be really hungry to go one better, and it's just important we get the right targets in to be as competitive as we can with everyone else."
