One of this year's stars from Love Island has revealed that this year's runner-up felt very differently about featuring on the show.

This year saw a total of 38 Islanders walk through the villa doors, including both the original line-up as well as all the bombshells that made a surprise entrance. One of those unexpected arrivals was Kavan Murphy.

By the time he turned up, his older brother Aidan had already made an impression in the villa from the first day. It marked the first time that siblings had featured on the show within the same series.

Aidan missed out on a place in the final as he was dumped alongside Priya, who coincidentally arrived as a bombshell at the same time as Kavan. However, the younger Murphy brother went all the way to the last day and was eventually named runner-up.

He and Jasmine Mulller missed out on the top spot to Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak. However, reacting at the time, the pair claimed they felt like they had won anyway, as they were leaving the villa 'in love'.

Now, Aidan has revealed that his brother felt very differently before going into the villa. Speaking to the Radio Times, he and Priya were asked if they really applied for the show looking for love and if they did hope to come out with a partner.

Aidan said: "You know what's funny - like obviously me and Kav were like discussing sort of going in and stuff like that. Obviously we didn't know what was going to happen, but we were sort of throughout the process, we were sort of together and we knew that we were kind of potentially going on the show.

"And I was going in for love and he kind of had the mentality that he was going to go in, he was going to be a bit of a player and this and that and the other."

Priya interjected "Have just a bit of a fun summer" before Aidan added: "Yeah, a little bit and I very much went in there sort of looking or love. And in a weird way, maybe the roles were slightly reversed slightly."

Aidan almost made Love Island history with the most couples during one series but just missed out. Speaking after he left the villa, he expressed some disappointment.

He said: "I was a bit annoyed that I didn’t get the record! I’ll take the silver medal." Aidan also cleaned up at The Grafties taking home three awards.

However, he also revealed that he did not get to take them home with him. He said: "Oh no, we didn't get them (the awards). That was really frustrating. They even engraved my name into the award - Flirtiest Moment, Raunchiest Moment and Plot Twist award. I need a cabinet for all these trophies."
