I’m getting ready to head to Greece for our summer vacation, so I’m deep in packing mode. (And yes, I’m behind. Always. Obviously.) But I’ve got it down to a science by now: 3-4 dresses, a matching set, comfy sandals, bikini – I basically wear the same thing, every year – and then rely on accessories to make what I brought fancier for nights out, or just to change up the look.

This year, there’s one statement piece that looks seriously cool with literally everything in my suitcase, from graphic tees to dresses: this tiger’s eye beaded necklace.

We originally designed this necklace to be an easygoing statement necklace – the kind that looks just as amazing with a classic white tee as it does with a little black dress. Something unfussy, but cool.

And it does. I’ve worn the heck out of this piece this summer – mostly casually, since that’s my lifestyle – but I also love just how freaking cool this piece is. Instead of resin or glass beads, this necklace is made from genuine tiger’s eye, and the heft and feel of this necklace is deeply satisfying. Tiger’s eye has incredible depth and movement that resin or glass beads can’t fake – it’s a big difference.

Also!! While there’s a ton of shell-inspired jewelry on the market right now, I especially love that our charm (an 18K gold-plated, surf jewel FYI) is shaped like an ammonite fossil. It’s our little symbol of resilience (and resistance!) since ammonites themselves survived three mass extinction events…over 300 million years. Hang in there, Gang. 😉

Our Go-To Vacation Necklace: Beaded Tiger’s Eye

Here’s the nitty gritty: Our Ammonite necklace is strung with 12mm genuine tiger’s eye beads. Mined primarily in South Africa and Western Australia, the raw stone is then cut, tumbled, and polished into beads. According to Jeni, Tiger’s eye is a chatoyant stone (which is a fancy way of saying that it catches the light).
