Hi guys, I have an Aspire 7 A715-76 (the one with Intel iGPU) for my university studies, but i kinda want to game on it. I mean the igpu it self can handle esports games, but the graphics are just acceptable.
I recently bought a Th3g4p3 dock and i use it with the 5060 lp, but it constantly crashes after a few minutes, either under load or not.

Was it because my GPUs are too high (the software hasn't gotten that old yet) or the dock was too old?
or the Thunderbolt port on the laptop does not support eGPU at all? (it got tb4 on the ad label after all)
I'm thinking about switching back to an older GPU like rx 7600 or 4060, for older software, hoping it won't crash again
(i tried all the eGPU fixes: TDR, DDU, power plan,….)
i've been stuck on this for weeks

@morgwai, thank you for the answer and evidence man
So the driver itself need update overtime?
Should i switch back to lower version for guarantee function or should i keep the thing because it will become stable in the future for tb3 and 4?
40 series or im thinking Rx 7600 still work fine?

it's hard to say for sure, but most experts tend to say that it's rather a hardware or a very low-level firmware issue, not the driver (it's on PCIe communication level).

I don't think Blackwell will ever work reliably on any "lower" type of USB-C based adapter than TB5, due to the reasons mentioned above.
I'd say you have 2 reasonable options:
