Police ID man sought after girl touched inappropriately in Delco Dollar Tree

Police in Delaware County identified a 35-year-old man as a person of interest in an investigation involving the indecent assault of a child inside a Dollar Tree store in Prospect Park.
Prospect Park police said they want to speak with Robert McCool about what happened on Aug. 3 at the Dollar Tree along the 700 block of Chester Pike. Authorities are stopping short of calling McCool a suspect.
Robert McCool, 35, is sought by police after, officials say, a 12-year-old girl was touched inappropriately at a Dollar Tree store on Aug. 3, 2026.
“We have some compelling information, at the very least, in which we want to talk to Mr. McCool and gather some insight into what happened inside that store,” Prospect Park Police Chief Dave Madonna said.
Police said a young girl reported that someone inappropriately touched her while she was at the store with her younger sister.
Madonna said the girl sensed danger, grabbed her sister’s hand and ran to a bathroom. She locked them both inside and called for help.
“She needs to be praised for what she did. She took a very difficult situation, a very traumatic situation and ensured not only her own safety but the safety of her young sister as well. She should be proud of herself,” Madonna said.
Madonna said investigators do not know whether the Prospect Park case is connected to similar incidents at Dollar Tree stores in which men have exposed themselves to female customers. Authorities believe those incidents are part of an online trend occurring nationwide and in the Philadelphia area.
In Bucks County, court documents obtained by NBC10 show authorities charged 30-year-old Anthony Oates for his alleged role in two separate incidents at Michaels stores in Middletown Township. Those incidents occurred last week.
Falls Township police also accused Oates of exposing himself at a Dollar Tree on Aug. 4.
“We can pull our resources and share information. But when you’re talking about multiple individuals in multiple jurisdictions, it’s a challenge,” Madonna said.
Madonna said McCool is originally from Florida but has ties to the Philadelphia area. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call the Prospect Park Police Department at 610-534-2222 or 911.
