VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – A Powerball ticket purchased at a Virginia Beach convenience store turned into a $100,000 winner in Wednesday’s $1.04 billion drawing, giving one Virginia player a six-figure payday on the same night a single ticket sold in Illinois captured the jackpot.
The Virginia Lottery said the $100,000-winning ticket was purchased at Boulevard Stop Mart, located at 5444 Virginia Beach Boulevard.
The winning numbers in the Aug. 12 drawing were 4, 26, 66, 67 and 69. The Powerball was 9.
More than 92,000 Powerball tickets purchased in Virginia won prizes in the drawing, according to the Lottery.
The Virginia Beach ticket stood out with its $100,000 prize.
The Lottery did not identify the winner. Virginia Lottery winners have 180 days from the drawing to claim prizes.
The drawing brought an end to a Powerball jackpot run that stretched across 44 drawings and pushed the grand prize to $1.04 billion.
One ticket purchased in Illinois matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot.
With the jackpot hit, Powerball resets to $20 million for Saturday night’s drawing.
Virginia did not land the billion-dollar winner, but the lengthy jackpot run produced another major financial figure for the Commonwealth.
Powerball ticket sales during the 44-drawing run generated an estimated $19.5 million in Virginia Lottery profit, according to the Lottery.
By law, Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 public education in the Commonwealth.
In Fiscal Year 2026, the Virginia Lottery generated more than $914 million for K-12 education, accounting for approximately 10% of the state’s total K-12 school budget.
Powerball drawings take place Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 25.
