RICHMOND, Va. — A Smithfield man is celebrating after winning the $100,000 top prize on a Virginia Lottery Red 7s Doubler Scratch-Off ticket.

The winner, who claimed the prize anonymously as permitted under Virginia law, said the purchase felt meant to be.

“It must have been fate,” he told Virginia Lottery officials.

After discovering the winning ticket, he added, “I can’t believe I won! I feel great!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Park & Shop, 1001 South Church Street in Smithfield.

The winner said he plans to deposit the prize into the bank while deciding how to use the money.

Red 7s Doubler is one of the Virginia Lottery’s Scratch-Off games, offering prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000. Lottery officials said this is the second top prize claimed in the game, leaving one $100,000 top prize still available.

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,183,200, while the overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.79.
