vivo India is all set to bring back its vivo S-Series smartphones to India with the launch of the vivo S2, scheduled for 6th August. The upcoming smartphone marks the return of the vivo S-Series after nearly 7 years and is positioned as a premium mid-range offering focused on elegant design, imaging, AI-powered software, and long battery life. vivo appears to be targeting creators, young professionals, and users looking for a balanced smartphone experience that blends style, performance, and everyday practicality.

So far, we know the vivo S2 will pack a stunning curved OLED sized at 6.83-inch with 1.5K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, alongside 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo SoC, 7,050 mAh battery, 50 MP Sony IMX852 camera, 32 MP selfie camera, OriginOS 6, and several AI-powered productivity features. While vivo is yet to reveal pricing and complete variant details, we’ve spent some time with the device ahead of launch.

Starting off with its design, the vivo S2, as you can see, looks premium and fashion-focused. Unlike many smartphones in its segment that opt for flat frames and conventional finishes, vivo has focused on delivering a sleek, elegant aesthetic that feels closer to its flagship lineup.

At just 7.99 mm thick, the smartphone feels remarkably slim considering it houses a massive 7,050 mAh battery. The rear panel features a clean, minimalist finish with softly curved edges that transition seamlessly into the frame, making the device comfortable to hold for extended periods.

One of the standout design elements is the redesigned camera module. The horizontally aligned pill-shaped camera island is complemented by Aura Light, giving the rear panel a distinctive identity while also serving practical portrait photography purposes. The camera arrangement looks modern without appearing overly aggressive, maintaining the premium design language vivo is known for.

On the front, the 6.83-inch 1.5K 3D Curved OLED display dominates the experience. The curved edges blend naturally into the frame, creating an immersive edge-to-edge appearance. Combined with the 120 Hz refresh rate, the display feels smooth, vibrant, and highly responsive.

The vivo S2 will be available in Silk White, Sapphire Blue, and Regal Bronze, each offering its own unique visual identity.

Photography is one of the key highlights of the vivo S2. The smartphone features a 50 MP Sony IMX852 primary camera paired with Aura Light Portrait, while the front houses a 32 MP selfie camera.

Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording, making the device suitable for vloggers, creators, and users who frequently switch between rear and selfie cameras. Additional camera features such as Dual View Video further enhance content creation by allowing simultaneous recording from both cameras.

We captured some photos with the vivo S2 camera ahead of launch, and the initial results are promising. Daylight images appear detailed with vibrant colours, while the Aura Light helps produce more balanced portraits in challenging lighting conditions. The front camera also delivers crisp selfies with good skin tones and supports high-resolution 4K video recording.

At this stage, we’ve only had limited time with the camera system. We’ll evaluate dynamic range, low-light photography, portrait performance, video stabilisation, and overall imaging consistency in greater detail during our full review. Camera samples are shared below; check them out.

Powering the vivo S2 is the MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo SoC, which vivo claims delivers an AnTuTu score of around 970,000. On paper, this places the chipset comfortably within the upper mid-range segment and should provide enough performance for demanding multitasking, gaming, and everyday productivity. We will cover more details of its specs and performance once the smartphone is launched this Thursday.

The smartphone is paired with OriginOS 6, bringing several AI-powered productivity features and software enhancements. Some of the highlighted software features include Circle to Search 2.0, Shake and Share (for high-resolution photo and 4K video transfers without compression), vivo Office Kit, AI Creation, and AI Transcript Assist. These features are designed to simplify content creation, document management, file sharing, and everyday workflows.

Battery life is another major focus of the vivo S2 with a huge 7,050 mAh capacity. This should comfortably last through heavy daily usage including gaming, streaming, photography, and navigation. Complete charging specifications will be announced during the official launch.

Based on everything vivo has officially revealed so far, the vivo S2 appears to be shaping up as a well-balanced premium mid-range smartphone. While we still need to evaluate sustained performance, battery endurance, charging speeds, camera quality and day-to-day software experience, our initial time with the device leaves a positive first impression. We’ll have a much clearer picture in our full review after the official launch on 6th August 2026, i.e., this Thursday, when vivo will also announce pricing, memory variants, launch offers and availability.
