Broadway box office slumped a bit last week with a slightly thinner roster and some of the longer-running productions taking their hits and ever-popular Oh, Mary! showing the strain of new star Meg Stalter missing some performances and Every Brilliant Thing‘s recent arrival Tracee Ellis Ross settling in.

In all, the 31 Broadway productions grossed $30,989,768, a 6% drop from the previous week when there were 32 shows on the boards. The tally for the week ending July 19 was off 8% year to year. Attendance of 255,560 was down 6% from the previous week but about even with last year at this time.

A noticeable dip was taken by Oh, Mary! at the Lyceum, where Stalter missed most of the week’s performances due to illness (she returned Friday). The production’s gross of $911,738 was down $129,236 from the previous week, with attendance at the Lyceum at about 86% of capacity.

Watch on Deadline

Every Brilliant Thing, now starring Ross after successful runs by Daniel Radcliffe and, most recently, Mariska Hargitay. Although the $124,823 drop from the previous week (to $361,158) can largely be attributed to one fewer performance (the Sunday matinee was canceled), attendance for the seven shows was about 77% of capacity, a significant drop from the production’s routine sell-out (or nearly so) status with Radcliffe and Hargitay. The show is scheduled to play through August 9.

Just In Time starring Jeremy Jordan was off a significant $231,589 from the previous week, settling in at $499,207, with 86% of Circle in the Square’s seats filled.

Much lower on the attendance-capacity spectrum were Chicago, at 66% of capacity; Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), at 64%; and Six at 60%.

Selling out was Proof, taking in a big $934,473 in its final week at the Booth. That’s a $91,950 jump over the previous week. The play, which starred Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle, was snubbed at the Tonys but proved to be one of the strongest new draws of the spring and summer.

Other sell-outs for the week were Death of a Salesman, Hamilton and Ragtime.

Also noteworthy was Cats: The Jellicle Ball, which surprised many with its recent closing announcement. Even with a canceled Monday evening performance, the musical jumped by $57,164 to $823,972 in its post-announcement week, filling 97% of seats at the Broadhurst. Closing date is August 8.

The top 5 earners for the week were Hamilton, $2,205,700; Death of a Salesman, $2,062,908; The Lion King, $1,905,248; MJ, $1,802,001; and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, $1,562,187. Ragtime was close behind with $1,521,347.

In the 8th week of the 2026-27 season, Broadway has grossed $282,970,861, down about 9% from last year at this time, with total attendance of 2,326,833 down 2%.
