The Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) once again secured leading positions in the latest edition of the US News Best Global Universities Subject Rankings. In the field of Civil Engineering, ULisboa holds the top national position, ranking 3rd in Europe among 48 institutions and 46th globally out of 250 ranked universities. It is important to note that Civil Engineering is a discipline offered exclusively at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa.

In the general field of Engineering, ULisboa ranked 150th worldwide among 1,500 ranked institutions. Out of the 20 fields of study at Técnico that were included in the ranking, ULisboa is represented in 17, leading the way in ten of those fields nationally: Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Energy and Fuels, Engineering, Geosciences, Green and Sustainable Science and Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Space Science, and Water Resources.

On the European stage, ULisboa’s results in Physics also stand out, where it ranks 47th among 317 institutions; in Water Resources, ULisboa ranks 4th among 44 institutions; and in Geosciences, it ranks 42nd among 183 institutions.

This ranking, based on research metrics, was released on 16 June and includes 13 indicators, including global and regional research reputation, publications, books, conferences, normalized citation impact, total citations, number of publications that are among the 10% most cited, international collaboration, international collaboration relative to the country, number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited in their respective field, and the percentage of total publications that are among the top 1% most cited papers.
