Fatshark has launched the Skitarii Class for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, adding a new Adeptus Mechanicus-themed playable class to the co-op shooter.

The class is available as paid content on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. According to the announcement, the standard edition is priced at $11.99 / €11.99, while the Deluxe Edition is priced at $18.99 / €18.99.

The Skitarii Class lets players take on the role of a Skitarii Alpha Primus, an elite Adeptus Mechanicus operative equipped with cybernetic enhancements and faction-specific weapons. The class includes a non-linear talent tree and supports different playstyles, including ranged, melee, and electricity-based builds.

The class can also be supported by up to three servo skull companions. Companions can do all of the good stuff, such as hacking, reviving allies, and using flame-based attacks.

Skitarii players have access to Adeptus Mechanicus weaponry including arc weapons, phosphor blasters, transonic blades, and galvanic rifles. Character customization options include material types, augmentation patterns, Forge World origin, four voice sets, and voice modulation.

The launch is accompanied by additional Darktide content. The Heretical Artifacts live event tasks players with recovering stolen relics and choosing between two factions that provide different bonuses. The Adherents of Saint Messelina increase coherency radius, attack speed, and movement speed, while the Scourge of the Faithless focuses on increased damage, burn damage, and burn duration.

The update also adds Expeditions content, including a new scavenge zone and a version of Atoma’s badlands set at dawn. The developer has suggested the update includes environmental hazards, balance changes, quality-of-life improvements, and bug fixes.

Two new enemy types, the Scab Vanguard and Dreg Vanguard, have also been added. The announcement describes them as shield-bearing human enemies that are faster and more agile than Ogryn shield units.

Fatshark CEO and co-founder Martin Wahlund said community feedback had been “instrumental” to Darktide’s development, adding that the studio was looking forward to seeing players use servo skulls and experiment with new builds.
