Marvel Cosmic Invasion is getting more DLC this year, and the first update lands today with two pretty major additions to the roster. Publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games have also revealed the arcade brawler has now pulled in more than 1.5 million players since launch.

The first paid DLC pack adds The Thing and Cyclops as playable fighters. It’s available now on PC, Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation, and Xbox for $3.99.

The Thing is basically exactly what you’d expect, a big tanky bruiser built around grapples and smashing through crowds of enemies. Cyclops, meanwhile, fights more at range with his optic blasts, including diagonal attacks designed to deal with airborne enemies.

Cyclops is probably the bigger headline here simply because fans have been asking for him since the game launched. It always felt slightly weird having a Marvel crossover brawler without one of the X-Men’s most recognisable characters in it.

There’s also a second DLC pack planned for Fall 2026. That one will add a new game mode alongside more playable characters, although Tribute hasn’t said yet who’s joining the roster next.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion launched earlier this year and is very much cut from the same cloth as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, fast arcade combat, chunky pixel art, and loads of fan service for people who grew up on ‘90s Marvel cartoons and side-scrolling beat ‘em ups.

The game seems to have found a decent audience too. Alongside the 1.5 million player milestone, it’s currently sitting on an 88% “Very Positive” user rating on Steam, which is pretty solid for a retro-style licensed game in 2026.
