AGC East Tennessee’s BIG PIG BBQ Festival, Presented By Food City, Returns May 16 at the First Horizon Pavilion
AGC East Tennessee announces the return of the BIG PIG BBQ Festival sponsored by Food City on Saturday, May 16 at the First Horizon Pavilion. Now in its sixth year, BIG PIG continues to bring the community together for a day of barbecue, live entertainment and family-friendly activities all while supporting a meaningful cause.
Organized as a fundraiser for the Construction Career Center, the BIG PIG BBQ Festival invites local teams to showcase their grilling talents in a friendly competition.
Team registration is now open for those ready to fire up their smokers and compete for barbecue bragging rights. Participating teams will begin cooking the evening before the event, setting the stage for an exciting day of barbecue.
The festival will be open to the public May 16 from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., offering attendees the chance to sample a variety of barbecue creations from competing teams. Guests can also enjoy live music and a beer garden for adult attendees, while families can explore the popular touch-a-truck exhibit, games and other kid-friendly activities.
“BIG PIG offers a great opportunity to get involved in the community and support the Construction Career Center,” said Forrest Catron, BIG PIG committee chair. "It has been rewarding to contribute to the event's planning and witnessing the community's support and dedication firsthand. It's encouraging to see our community rallying behind the next generation of construction professionals.”
One of the festival’s highlights is the BIG PIG Judging Panel Contest, where a panel of judges will determine the top barbecue team. Attendees will also have the opportunity to cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award, giving the community a voice in selecting their favorite barbecue.
“Food City is proud to continue our sponsorship of this landmark event that provides great food, fun and fellowship for the entire community while benefitting a great cause that invests in the next generation of builders,” said Misty Deskins, Food City senior director of marketing.
Proceeds from the BIG PIG BBQ Festival directly benefit the Construction Career Center, helping support hands-on training programs, scholarships and resources for students pursuing careers in the construction industry.
Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the fun on May 16 at the First Horizon Pavilion for a day of barbecue and community spirit. For more information and to register your team, visit www.bigpigbbqfestival.com.
