Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's cinematic summer fun gets a springtime start

Дата публикации: 30-04-2026 15:30:19

MEET YOU AT THE GIANT DIPPER: There are things you can count on when you plan a warm-weather visit to one of the West Coast’s last great nostalgia-lovely boardwalks: A certain vintage-vibey wooden roller coaster is going to wow new and returning riders, all sorts of fried and cold and creamy snacks will be devoured, and the free movie series, the one that happens right on the beach, will kick off with a vampiric ’80s classic that was famously filmed in the area. For Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk buffs, and anyone who adores visiting the sort of classic, ride-filled beach scene of their dreams, is fond of the toothsome and toothy traditions found at the surf-close sensation. If you’re ready for the pleasures and pursuits of the summer of 2026, so is the attraction: The schedule is live and plenty, like seriously plenty, is coming up, from the Summer Drone Show to Free Movies on the Beach.
“THE LOST BOYS”… will again launch the pay-nothing cinema series, so don your eternal soul couture and head down to the sand to admire the boardwalk as it looked in the middle of the 1980s (so, not too different from today). That’s June 12, but more films are to come, with “Back to the Future” and “Jurassic Park” popping up later in the summer. A morningtime arcade special begins June 15, with half-priced game-playing fun; that’s the same date for the launch of Evenings on the Colonnade, which will feature live magic, acrobatics, and other entertainment offerings. As for National Roller Coaster Day? That’s August 16, and if you’re among the first 100 people to ride the Giant Dipper, you’ll snag a souvenir cup. Check out all of the films, deals, and special events by coastering over to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk site.

There's a lot on the sandy attraction's busy plate, including cinematic vampires and National Roller Coaster Day.
