I cannot think of a more accurate description of Michele Reneau’s work in the Tennessee General Assembly. If you received - and read - her most recent mailer, you have seen that phrase.

But “Fighting for Conservative Values” is not just a campaign slogan. It describes how Michele serves.

While she would have normally spent today knocking on doors and campaigning, Michele was back in Nashville attending a Government Operations Committee meeting. The Government Operations Committee, commonly called “Gov Ops,” reviews the rules written by state departments, boards and agencies.

Today’s agenda covered everything from critical care providers and dairy farms to investment advisers and physical therapists.

These meetings may not receive much public attention, but they matter. When Tennesseans interact with state government, it is often agency rules - not just the laws passed by the legislature - that directly affect their businesses, professions and daily lives.

Our family business is subject to an extensive collection of state laws and regulations. When recently proposed rule changes raised concerns for us, we contacted Rep. Reneau. She took the time to review the proposal, understand how it could affect our business and advocate for needed changes. During today’s committee meeting, she directly questioned the state officials responsible for those rules and made sure our concerns were heard.

That is what representation should look like.

For small-business owners and Tennesseans who value liberty, limited government and accountability, Michele Reneau does more than talk about conservative principles. She is and will continue fighting for conservative values.
