It’s a bittersweet day for Corvette fans. On the one hand, a tidal wave of professional Grand Sport content dropped this morning via MotorTrend and Car & Driver, but on the other, this marks the final such drop of the C8 generation… wait, what’s that? Oh yeah, we still have GSX reviews on the horizon, so there’s nothing bitter about it, this is one sweet day!

No lifting of a General Motors media embargo would be complete without rushing to the Savage Geese channel on YouTube where your all but guaranteed to find a beautifully shot, thoughtfully produced, and technically rich rundown of the latest member of the Corvette family.

Today, that member is, for our money, the most exciting ‘Vette ever to wear a Grand Sport badge. Underneath its signature patriotic livery and Z06-style wide haunches lies a brand new Small-Block V8; actually, that’s selling it short, it isn’t just a new example of Chevy’s legendary powerplant, it represents the first salvo for an all-new sixth-generation of the world’s greatest bent-eight. It now displaces a massive 6.7 liters and produces an American (cross-plane) naturally-aspirated record 535 horsepower to go along with more torque than any free-breathing V8 from any manufacturer in the history of internal combustion.

The other headline is that this monster offers that killer body/motivator combo starting at under $90,000. If what few cars out there that can actually claim to be competition weren’t already sweating, this C8 just turned up the burner to ‘Power Boil,’ but enough of our rambling, the gents from SG are here to bring you their customary deep dive.
