For this article, I wanted to dive into some of the current production numbers for the new 2027 model year. We didn’t mention this last week, but the Corvette Assembly Plant was closed for the week, and it will remain closed this week as well for the annual summer shutdown that coincides with the July 4th holiday.
Production of the 2027 model year started on June 8th, and so we have a good three weeks worth of production data to take a look at. As far as we are aware, no new 2027 Corvettes have yet been delivered, but I’ve been told deliveries could start happening as early as today. If you have taken delivery of a 2027 Corvette, let us know!
Before the plant workers went on vacation, we see that 1,689 Corvettes have been produced for the new model year so far. This data comes from Roger Kiel’s C8 Production Tracker which he posts on Facebook on the C8 Corvette Owners Group:
• Stingray: 719
• Grand Sport: 590
• Z06: 241
• ZR1: 91
• ZR1X: 48
The Stingray is still the volume leader but now the new Grand Sport is coming on strong and just in time to inject some new excitement into the Corvette lineup. These two models are now combined for over 77% of all Corvettes produced. On the flip side, the Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X represent 22.6% of all models now being produced in Bowling Green.
As for the production share breakdown of each of the five models, they are:
• Stingray: 42.5%
• Grand Sport: 34.9%
• Z06: 14.2%
• ZR1: 5.3%
• ZR1X: 2.8%
Unofficial stats from the 2026 model year show us that the Stingray accounted for 62% of all Corvettes produced while the Z06 had 26% and the E-Ray was 4.7%. From those stats, it looks like the Grand Sports care coming from these models. The ZR1, which had a 6.2% of production last year, has dropped to 5.3% for 2027. The ZR1X is up from just 1.1% of Corvettes produced in 2026 to now representing 2.8% of 2027’s production.
The start of regular production (SORP) of the Grand Sport X is still a few weeks off but we should start seeing quantities produced before the end of the month. What we will be looking for is how many will be produced on a daily basis as well as what will be the share of production.
