What if you had been imprisoned in solitude for thousands of years, and suddenly a signal cut through the silence... and it was singing? At times it even sounds like they are joining in your song, or maybe like you could try and join in theirs and not be alone anymore, even if it is just for a moment...

I have a hard time explaining what story i was trying to tell with this without spoiling this entire game and its dlc, but i hope some of the feeling i was trying to evoke comes through regardless of familiarity level. I did start out with a very clear picture of what i wanted to say and how i wanted to say it, so most of the challenge in this arrangement came from keeping it reasonably short (success!), and i guess sanding down the friction created by having the travelers play their sweet little relative major four chord progression over the river's (still gets a little spicy on that third chord but ulitmately they blended pretty nicely). I worked pretty hard to get chert to play his drums a little closer to the center than he does ingame (and in 6/8) but being atonal he was definitely less of a headache to integrate. Also very pleased with how i got to integrate the tower falling, and how it just feels poetically right how Solanum (on piano) is the only one actually able to answer in the call-and-response way used throughout.

Mostly The River by Andrew Prahlow
Also uses all travelers from Travelelers Encore, and its altered mode version used in (among other things) River's End
Tiny little part of End Times
River's End (playing at double speed) is sampled for the breakdown/bridge part starting around 2:10. Travelers instruments are sampled throughout in various places, except poor Chert who goes catatonic around 2 minutes before the rest of them stop playing. small part of End Times at 2:44 or 2:53 depending on whether you count the droning. Point of view character starts playing their Travelers part at 2:44 pretty much nonstop thru to the end
Never played Outer Wilds but the game has some truly emotional music.
We start with a sigh and then some muted guitar + a piano (I think? not the highest quality sample). At 0:30 we get some interesting percussion and a banjo-ish sound, joined by a few melodies on distorted guitar. A soft muted distorted guitar creates some tension as we get some source melodies on choir and other sounds. At 1:43 the lead switches to a very MIDI sounding electric guitar. 2:07 introduces a new bass note for the first time in a while, I honestly hadn't even realized there was a bass here until now. The main Travelers melody kicks in later, on guitar and also piano. There's a strange panned-delay effect on piano (or 2 pianos?). Transition to 2:55 is really cool. Love the idea of the section starting at 2:58, something more intense to close the track out is great. However, I think the drum writing is very messy with all the cymbal hits and the mix isn't doing many favors to this section, sounds very messy. Things break down at 3:30 for a nice, calm ending.
Arrangement is cool, progresses well from source to source and features a fun array of instruments. As proph noted, percussion for the first 2 minutes or so never changes, which is a bit of a bummer. I also didn't like the drum writing for the 2:58 section, but it may be more of a mix thing than writing thing, not completely sure.
Production is, sadly, a big weakness here. For the first 2 minutes or so the mix is *fine*, there's not that many layers so it sounds well, but in the intense section at 2:58 it completely falls off. The drums (mostly cymbals) take over the entire mix, the guitar is hard to hear and the melodies barely scrape by. This climax section should be punchier and less busy: toning down the cymbals is a start but the kick/snare aren't too hot right now. Other than the mix there, some samples aren't super high quality and could use some touchups on the mix to make them shine more. Finally, the master is very quiet.
Overall, really cool arrangement but the production needs a second pass to reach OCR's bar.
