The band Geese solidified its place in the rock scene on the Allianz stage on the third day of Lollapalooza.

Formed in 2016, Geese has released four studio albums. As of 2024, the band consists of Cameron Winter, Emily Green, Dominic DiGesu and Max Bassin.

The band started its set by showing an Americana-themed video that showcased snippets of several sports teams, pop culture and other media that set the post-punk theme for its performance. 

Starting strong with its song “2122,” Geese pumped up the crowd, inspiring a small mosh pit to open in the front near the barricade. 

Winter, the band’s lead singer, detailed how all of its instruments were lost in transit, dedicating a snippet of Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4” to United Airlines’ blunder and lamenting the absence of their tambourine. 

Winter also mentioned the sound quality on the stage, making another reference to their airline troubles and saying, “Quality is up in the air, so to speak.”

Despite the set being accented with the occasional drizzle, the crowd revitalized the high energy for every rock segment of the set list, bopping their heads and frat flicking to the upbeat tunes. 

During “Cobra,” the crowd sang emphatically, creating an energy that accompanied the intermittent tufts of smoke rising from the crowd and making up for the lack of volume from the stage speakers.  

As Geese performed “Au Pays du Cocaine,” onlookers watching from the grassy slopes surrounding the field saw fireflies pop up as Winter repeated the line, “Like a sailor in a big green coat.”

Nearing the set’s end, the energy spiked again as the crowd jumped and shouted the lyrics “You’re gonna have to tear me down,” from the song “Taxes” from its 2025 album “Getting Killed.” 

The album gained popularity immediately after its release, skyrocketing the band into the spotlight with its high energy, experimental-rock and post-punk sounds. 

During a short intermission that came before the last song, several festivalgoers attempted to crowd surf, with only one person being successful. 

The crowd surfer star-fished their way to the top of the crowd, riding the energetic vibes and coming back down just in time for the last song of the set, “Trinidad.”
