India’s innings was built around Kishan’s aggressive start, which helped overcome a pitch that offered turn and made run-scoring periodic. Despite some resistance from Pakistan’s bowlers, India finished on 175-7 at the end of their allocation.

Pakistan lost momentum early in their reply. Hardik Pandya removed a top-order batter in the first over of the chase, and Jasprit Bumrah followed with further strikes in the next. A notable moment came when Babar Azam was trapped by Axar Patel; a commentator called out, “He’s cleaned him up!”

The middle and lower order were unable to build a sustained recovery and Pakistan were bowled out in the 18th over.

The fixture had been the subject of talks and uncertainty in the days leading up to the tournament after Pakistan initially announced a boycott and later reversed that decision. The game proceeded without significant on-field incidents, although the captains did not shake hands at the toss and there were no exchanges between the teams after the final delivery.

With the win, India have secured their place in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan must defeat Namibia in their next group match to keep alive their chances of advancing; a victory would leave open the possibility of meeting India again later in the tournament in a knockout match.
