THE DOG DAYS OF SUMMER? We haven’t nearly reached those, of course, though the recent spate of toasty afternoons do suggest otherwise. Still, it is still spring, as the bulk of June most definitely is, and staring a few weeks ahead, to when the temperatures are up, up, up and Sirius, the Dog Star, is also on the up, up, up, isn’t an exercise we need to undertake at the moment. But we can experience the “Dog” Days of Summer, with special and sweet emphasis on the first word of the phrase, by trotting over to Huntington Beach for a yearly to-do focused on our best and truest friends. It’s Pup Fest, an annual get-together at Paséa Hotel & Spa. It’s accurate to say that hotels rarely stage celebrations built around our scruffy besties, so call this tail-wagging to-do a stand-out. The 2026 date is June 14 and the location? The breezy Ocean Lawn, not far from the beach.
NOON IS THE START TIME… for the buoyant barker bash, and there are a few adorable components. Shopping at local dog-themed vendors is one draw (for the humans), while water play for the pooches is the splashiest offering. And if your cutie is chosen as the “Face of Pup Fest 2026,” you could score a complimentary overnight at the hotel. Think your lil’ one has the showy stuff? The theme is beach costumes. For all of the details on the mid-day affair, which will also have gourmet goodies for the canines, live tunes, and more, trot by the Paséa site for information. And if you go with a VIP ticket? You and your bestie are departing with a swag bag. The Dog Days of Summer don’t have to be a sweat fest; they can also mean a frolicsome festivity that focuses on Fidos and the people who obsess over them (yes, that is 100% us).
