Participants from 16 countries started training [photo report]

The UrFU launched an international project "Summer University" on July 6. Over the course of two weeks, 430 students from 16 countries will study modern technologies, work on interdisciplinary projects, and get acquainted with the Russian education system and the culture of the Urals.

"Ural Federal University is a university open to the world. We are pleased to welcome talented students from different countries and create a space for the exchange of knowledge, ideas , and cultures. I am sure that during these two weeks of study and collaboration, not only will interesting projects be born here, but strong ties will also be forged that will contribute to the development of science, education , and friendship between our countries," said Ilya Obabkov, Rector of UrFU.

The opening ceremony brought together participants, teaching staff, organizers and partners of the project. The Summer University program includes educational tracks in information technology and artificial intelligence, economics, management, humanities, law, and nuclear technology, as well as project work, field trips, and cultural events.

After the opening, the participants attended the lecture "Act Like a Champion: Sports Principles for Everyday Life", which was conducted by Ilya Averbukh, Olympic medalist, choreographer, producer of ice shows and sporting events. The meeting took place within the framework of the project "Znaniye.Career". Ilya Averbukh told what qualities help to achieve high results not only in sports, but also in studies, profession and daily life. He paid special attention to discipline, teamwork, responsibility for one's own choices, and a willingness to constantly evolve.

The participants will have two weeks of intensive educational program, work on real-life cases of industrial partners, meetings with experts, visit the international Innoprom exhibition and get acquainted with Ekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region.

In total, 1,290 people, including students from Russian and foreign universities, as well as volunteers and chaperones, will participate in the Summer University in 2026. The audience will be based on international undergraduate students from both near and far abroad.

The event takes place on the basis of three leading universities of the country: Ural Federal University, Siberian Federal University and Kazan Federal University.

Since 2025, the Summer University has been implemented through the national "Youth and Children" project, which aims to create favorable conditions for the development of young people, providing them with opportunities for education, professional growth and a scientific career.
