With slides, obstacle courses, go-karts, zip wire, wooden forts, mazes and jumping pillows spread across sprawling fields, this Cheshire farm shop has quite simply the biggest play areas we've ever seen.
As a mum to two very active boys, and a journalist for this paper, I feel like I've been to pretty much every play area and attraction going in the north west over the past ten years. So I can say with fairly good authority that the offering at Wheelock Hall Farm near Sandbach in Cheshire is one of the most impressive for families that you can find.
It's like field after field of fun - and on these sunny days we've been enjoying of late it offers up a full day in the great outdoors for kids. And the great thing is that even if it does go a little bit rainy, or indeed if you want to get out of the sun for a bit, it has an absolutely huge indoor playbarn as well.

The farm shop on the site is also huge, with a full gift shop side as well as all the fresh fruit and veg, cakes and meat and dairy you'd expect from this kind of rural enterprise. It's free to enter the shop and the adjacent cafe set in former farm barn buildings on the large country estate.
But if you want to head on into the play areas, then you pay for wristbands to enter. These are priced at £12.99 per child and £2.99 for adults.
Once you've paid for your wristband though you can go in and out all day (from 9am to 6.30pm) and there's enough going on to keep your young ones entertained for hours here.
Be warned that on sunny days it does get busy, and cars pack out the adjacent field car park. However, we always find that if you go later in the afternoon the crowds all start to disappear.
If you're happy to play on right up to the closing time at 6.30pm you'll find you've got the run of the fields all to yourself.
Adults will find they get the steps in across the play fields, and can enjoy the beautiful rural scenery here too. Particularly up on the top field, which now hosts a huge wooden play fort for kids to dash along and then choose from a number of slides to slip down.
From up here you can see right across the fields to the nearby town of Sandbach - as well as across the corn fields and cow fields all around.
Also up here you'll find two huge jumping pillows that kids absolutely love. They're surrounded by soft white sand too, and my two boys loved playing in the sand as much as jumping all over the bouncy cushions here.
It is still a working farm, and visitors can also wander across further fields to see a host of farm animals including lambs, goats, sheep chickens and horses. There's also a barn where you can meet newborn lambs, goats and pigs too, depending on the season.
Just when you think you've seen all the play areas, there's a dedicated wooden play area for younger kiddies, next to big wooden building that gets you in to the big indoor playbarn.
It sits right next to the sheep fields, so parents can enjoy a sit down and look out to the animals on one side, while keeping an eye on their kids gamboling about on the other.
It's farm-themed with large animals dotted about, and a vintage tractor that kids can clamber on for a great photo too.
There's a huge playframe to weave and wind through, while at the end there's a small indoor football and basketball cage that my older son, who is 10, would happily have spent all day playing in.
Having visited this place often, I know the only way I can actually persuade my kids to leave the play areas is with the dangling carrot of ice cream at the end of it. We tend to just nip in to the shop to get a cone of the Cheshire Farm Ice Cream on offer here, priced at £3.50 for a single scoop or £4.50 for a double.
If you're wanting a more substantial meal, then there is a large tearoom on the site in a converted barn space, with a menu of cooked breakfast and lunch items, with the option to sit in an indoor café area, as well as a wealth of outdoor seating in a pretty walled garden area with swings.
But you can also take in your own food and drink with large seating areas inside the playbarn.
There's so much to do here, that on my last visit we didn't even get time to do the go-karting at the far end of the site, nor the quirky tube maze which we did think would probably be a bit hot anyway in this searing heat.
But the kids did enjoy plentiful goes on the zip wire on the central site, before playing their own version of Gladiators by whizzing around the large obstacle course that circles the main play zone.
How to get thereWheelock Hall Farm Shop is open daily including Bank holidays, from 9am to 6.30pm - tickets for the play area mean you can play there all day for £12.99 per child and £2.99 per adult. You get a wristband allowing re-entry during the day of visit.
The farm shop is located on Crewe Road, Wheelock, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 4RE which is around a 40 minute drive from Manchester.
For those arriving off the M6, it's just two miles off Junction 17. If you head onto Old Mill Road and follow the A534, the farm shop is just off a roundabout before you hit the Haslington bypass.
The nearest train station is Sandbach, which is two miles away.
