СпутникиРНSpaceXРоскосмосNASANewcastle Pride will be taking over the city centre this weekend with loads on in bars and clubs for the annual event
Come rain or shine, you can be sure that Newcastle will be a place of love, strength, solidarity and celebration this weekend as the city and its LGBTQIA+ community comes out in force for Pride. And, as well as the annual march, Pride Arena in Times Square and events taking place in various locations around town, there will of course be plenty of partying to be down in the bars and clubs.
In a current political climate that feels particularly volatile and when the LGBTQIA+ community are feeling more under threat and at risk, an event like Pride is something that needs to be celebrated and be more visible that ever. A new team is at the helm of Newcastle Pride this year, with Curious Arts now in charge, as they prepare for this year's event carrying the theme 'city of hope, streets of joy.'
This year's Pride will get going with a 5k run in Leazes Park on Friday evening, started by Olympic legend Dame Kelly Holmes. And 800m and 1500m champion Kelly will be sticking around to be one of the speakers at the March on Saturday afternoon, which will end with a rally at Grey's Monument.

After the march, there is plenty to get involved in around Newcastle city centre, including the Tyger Comms stage and Market Village at Monument, the Trans+ Zone at Northern Stage and, of course, the Pride Arena in TImes Square, where acts like Nadine Coyle, Katy B and Danny Beard will be performing.
All weekend there will also be plenty going on in the bars that are proudly part of Newcastle's LGBTQIA+ community, with many guest acts doing their thing. Here is a rundown in alphabetical order...
The BankFree entry all weekend. Anna Morphic on the decks on Friday, Mea T.Cleaver and Pebble Dash on Saturday, as well as DJ Drama's karaoke lounge and DJ Drama and Pebble Dash on Sunday.
BoulevardThere are shows at Boulevard on Friday, Saturday (early and late) and Sunday. If you haven't seen the Summer Show yet, you REALLY need to! If you have a Pink Pass - available HERE - or a Pride Arena ticket, you can get into standing for free. Any other tickets are available from the Boulevard website.
Cobalt StudiosBin Juice - Pride Rave.. Featuring a wealth of North East talent and Gothy Kendoll and Josh Bell on the decks. From 9pm. Tickets from £15.
The EagleDame Edna Everage tribute The DE Experience - tickets from Skiddle - and NRG Pride in Rubber on Friday night. DILF Newcastle Pride on Saturday and Kink Disco on Sunday. For DILF tickets head to www.dilf.uk.
Pink RoomOpen all weekend. Entry with your Pink Pass or on the door. Acts include Laila Sagittaria on the decks from 2-4am on Friday and Rita Moff, Toni, QiQi and Zizi on Saturday, with their Pride special kicking off at 2.30am.
PowerhouseWithout a doubt the highlight of Powerhouse's line-up is a live performance from The Cheeky Girls at 2am on the main floor. There will also be music from DJ Cris Howe, DJ Michael Maddison and JNR. Open until 5am - entry with a Pink Pass.
Rusty'sOpen Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Entry is £5 on the door or gain entry with your Pink Pass. They are priced £7.50 for Friday, £10.50 for Saturday, £7.50 for Sunday. Two day passes are £16 and a full three day weekend for £21.
Rusty's will have its own outdoor Queer Garden from 2pm on Saturday. Hosted by newly crowned Drag Idol UK champion Betty Thunderthighs, there will also be live music from Luke McGarey and Jamie Heward.
Inside there will be DJs on across the weekend with Rita Moff kicking things off on on Friday and Rusty's open until the early hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Rusty's ShowbarThere is so much going on at the Showbar all weekend, with it all included in the Pink Pass. The Cheeky Girls will be performing on Friday, as part of an all new Friday Show, raising the curtain on a packed weekend. On Saturday there will be Legends tributes to the likes of Cheryl, Elton John, Whitney Houston. Chicago, Liza Minelli and Jessie J.
Once those performances are over, there will be more entertainment, including a star turn from guest Alfie Ordinary. Alfie is back on Sunday, alongside Bailey J.Mills and Drag Idol judge Penni T.
Scotswood Show BarJust like Rusty's Showbar there's loads on over the road as well. On Friday night inside the bar there will be Miss Lucy and Gloria Love on the decks, while in the outdoor Showbiz Stadium there will be a Silent Disco. Free entry for both.
There will be free entry to the bar on Saturday, as Lucy Phurr, Ophelia B and Miss Lucy entertain, while you'll need a ticket for the Stadium to enjoy star turns from Catrin Feelings, Katie Price, Betty Thunderthighs and more.
Entry to the bar is free on Sunday too, when Titania Gemini, Lucy Phurr, Gucci Gabore and Gloria Hole providing the soundtrack, while outside in the ticketed Stadium, there will be acts including Steps and Vengaboys tributes. and UK drag icon Son of a Tutu.
The Singing CanaryThere will be free entry all weekend at the Singing Canary, with a special guest DJ set from Levi Heron on Saturday at 10pm, after Mutha Tucka gets everyone warmed up from 12pm and JNR and Amber take over.
Amber will be in charge on Sunday, where there'll be karaoke and live singers throughout the day.
SwitchFree entry from 8pm on Friday and 4pm on Saturday. DJs include JNR.
The Tipsy CowFree entry all weekend. DJ Danny on the decks from 11am on Friday, followed by Vicky Paris at 5pm and Acrid's Follies at 9pm and then coco until 4.30am. Saturday at Tipsy kicks off with Millie Munchkin from 12 noon, before Vicky Paris takes over at 4pm and there's a performance from Sabrina Carpenter tribute Sweet Sabrina at 8pm and Country Divas with Harriet from 9pm.
And, finally on Sunday, DJ Danny will be back from 11am, DJ Ross from 4pm, Vicky Paris with cabaret from 9pm and Coco until 4.30am.
The Yard & OscarsFree entry all weekend. Stacey Recht hosting and providing the music on Friday, from 9pm-3am, Danni Delonco, Anna Morphic and Mea T Cleaver from open-close on Saturday and on Sunday, Mutha Tucka is on from 2pm to keep the party going.
One of the big highlights will be Oscars' Pride extravaganza on Sunday evening. The night will be hosted by Delonco and features performances from the likes of Khloe Kennedy, Vixen Valentine, Alan Queerer, Euphoria Storm and many more.
Sonstairs in The Yard on Sunday, at 11pm Betty Thunderthighs will be performing her one woman show..
