MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Plans are in place to launch the plants to assemble Belarusian tractors and trucks in Myanmar in the first quarter of 2027, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said during the Belarusian-Myanmar Business Forum in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
In order to make a qualitative leap forward in the development of Belarusian-Myanmar cooperation, Aleksandr Turchin proposed that Myanmar’s business community focus on several key areas. “First is the transition from simple trade operations to deep industrial cooperation. Unlike many of your other partners, we are ready to implement projects based on the localization of production in Myanmar of a wide range of sought-after goods. Belarus offers Myanmar not merely to buy finished equipment, but, relying on Belarusian technologies, to work jointly on creating added value within your country. We have a clear schedule: to launch assembly plants for tractors and trucks in Myanmar already in the first quarter of 2027. The Belarusian side will fulfill its obligations on time. We are also ready to expand the range of finished product supplies, from passenger electric transport for your cities to utility and special-purpose vehicles,” he said.
The same approaches apply to cooperation in the chemical industry. “Belarus views Myanmar not merely as a sales market. Our goal is mutual benefit for the enterprises of both countries. We are ready to fully meet the needs of Myanmar’s tire plants in high-quality Belarusian cord. In return, our petrochemical complex is interested in direct, stable, and long-term purchases of Myanmar’s natural rubber. Grodno Azot has a powerful production base and expertise, and is ready to ensure stable direct supplies of specialized raw materials to Myanmar, in particular hydroxylamine sulfate. We would like Myanmar’s business community to pay close attention to this offer. It could become another growth point for trade and economic cooperation between our countries,” the prime minister noted.
In the energy sector, Belarusian enterprises are ready to design and equip distributed generation facilities, supply modern equipment to Myanmar, and implement automated control systems. “In the construction sector, Belarusian contracting organizations possess vast experience working abroad. We are ready to actively engage in your infrastructure projects, from large-scale road and bridge construction to the development of residential neighborhoods and social facilities. Strict adherence to deadlines and high quality of work will be ensured,” the Belarusian head of government emphasized.
Another avenue is cooperation in the light industry. “A concrete example of the possibilities for industrial cooperation is the project to build a footwear factory in Myanmar. The Belarusian side approaches this issue comprehensively. We will not simply supply leather and components, but carry out a full transfer of technology. We are ready to train Myanmar specialists in our educational institutions so that you can acquire your own technological base. This will allow Myanmar not only to meet domestic demand, but also to effectively export to ASEAN countries. Our enterprises possess serious competencies and are ready to meet Myanmar’s needs for high-tech fabrics and modern personal protective equipment. We count on systemic and constructive work in this direction,” Aleksandr Turchin emphasized.
Among other promising forms of cooperation, he suggested projects in the agricultural industry and ensuring food security, collaboration in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, high technologies, science and personnel training, a seamless legal environment for investments, and financial and logistical infrastructure.
