It's not easy finding things to do with the kids across the long summer break, especially ones that don't cost a fortune.
But there's one place in Greater Manchester that's been entertaining youngsters for generations and since reopening after a massive transformation last summer, it's being valued now more than ever before.
Norley Hall Adventure Playground is in Wigan and the new-look site features accessible play equipment including swings, slides, zip lines and an eye-catching climbing tower.

While the Wigan Council run attraction is open to all, it's more of a community asset rather than a wider visitor attraction and the vast majority of families who use it are from the surrounding neighbourhoods including Norley Hall, Worsley Hall, Pemberton, Marsh Green and Kitt Green.
During term time it opens after school from 3pm to 7.30pm except for Wednesdays, but in the school holidays it's open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
As well as the playground, there are loads of summer activities planned for kids, including a Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) offer for those on benefits-related free school meals.
But everyone who attends here is able to access the food and activities free of charge, thanks to funding from Feeding Britain.
Breakfast snacks are available from 10am, with free lunches such as pasta and hot dogs from 1pm and healthy snacks and drinks available all day.
Elizabeth Friar uses the place every time it's open for her four children, all of whom have additional needs.
"It's a vital part of my children's day," she said. "For me, as a parent of four children with additional needs and myself with ADHD, it's somewhere I know I can go to get the support.
"It's a gated playground so the children can go and play and the adults can sit in the parents' cabin. Most of the parents stay there with the children, but at Norley Hall everybody knows everybody anyway and the majority of parents know each other as the kids go to the same schools."
Elizabeth, who has a 13-year-old, an 11-year-old and eight-year-old twins, added: "I've used the place consistently since it reopened, on a daily basis. It's free and it's easy - there's food for the kids and snacks and drinks, as well as toilet facilities.
"The staff know the children and the children know the staff. It really is a great place for families. I'm just about to pick the kids up from holiday club and then will take them to the playground for the rest of the day."
The revamped site, secured by new fencing and managed and overseen by the council's Be Well play team, was developed with consultants from Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and shaped by a series of engagement exercises involving local families.
The finished playground – formally reopened by the former Mayor of Wigan, Councillor Jenny Bullen, last summer – also boasts a boarding swing, ‘round the world’ swing, boulder traverse wall, and a multi-use games area as well as a fire pit, water play and slides for all ages.
Councillor Chris Ready, cabinet portfolio holder for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “Norley Hall Adventure Playground is a truly special place. It’s been at the heart of this community for more than 40 years and generations of local people have fond memories of growing up here.
“A lot of time, thought and hard work went into redesigning it for the future, and we made sure local families were involved throughout the process so that we ended up with something the community could be really proud of.
“The response we’ve had since reopening last summer has been fantastic, and seeing so many young people enjoying themselves and making friends over the past 12 months has made it all worthwhile.
“Having somewhere like this where kids can play, be adventurous and express themselves in a safe, supervised environment is so important and we’re looking forward to more special memories being made this summer.”
