Claim: Visuals show two women apprehending a Muslim man for stealing their phone in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Fact: The accused caught in this incident is named Manpreet Singh. The local Padav police have clarified that he is not a Muslim. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search on keyframes from the viral video led us to several news reports (here, here & here) covering the incident. According to these reports, on 08 August 2026, two sisters, Harshita Agarwal and Rishita Agarwal, were riding a scooter in Gwalior when a man on a motorcycle snatched their phone. The women chased him down, caught him, and handed him over to the local police. A copy of the FIR can be seen here.

The investigation by the local Padav police revealed that the accused, Manpreet Singh, is a native of Punjab. To confirm this, we reached out to the Padav Police Station. SHO Shailendra Bhargava clarified that the accused is Manpreet Singh, son of Jaspal Singh, and stated that they do not belong to the Muslim community.

To sum it up, the individual caught stealing the phone in the viral video is not a Muslim.
