The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport(SAIDS) imposed the following sanctions for the period of July 2026.

Sizwe Ndebele

Athletics | Two (2) year sanction

Following an In-Competition test conducted on Sizwe Ndebele (the “Athlete”) on 21 February 2026 at the Athletics South Africa Race Walking Trials, the Athlete tested positive for the presence of Prednisolone in his urine Sample.

In terms of the World Anti-Doping Code (“WADC”) Prohibited List 2026, Prednisolone is classified under Category S9 (Glucocorticoid), which is prohibited In- Competition.

The Athlete accepted the sanction of two (2) years, based on the application of Article 8.3.1 and 8.3.3 SAIDS Rules, waiving his right to a hearing and agreeing to the Consequences applicable under Article 10.6.1. for Specified Substances. The Athlete’s period of Ineligibility began on 8 May 2026 (the date he accepted voluntary Provisional Suspension) and will be effective up to and including 8 May 2028.

Deon Botes

Rugby |Four (4) year sanction

Following an In-Competition test conducted on Deon Botes (the “Athlete”) during the Craven Week Rugby Tournament on 7 July 2025, the Athlete tested positive for the presence of 19-norandrosterone and 19-noretiocholanolone, which are metabolites of nandrolone in his urine Sample.

In terms of the World Anti-Doping Code (“WADC”) Prohibited List 2025, 19-norandrosterone and 19-noretiocholanolone are classified under Category S1 (Anabolic Androgenic Steroids), which is prohibited at all times (In- and Out-Of-Competition).

The Athlete exercised his right to a hearing which took place on 11 June 2026 before an Independent Doping Hearing Panel (IDHP). After consideration of all the evidence, the IDHP rendered a sanction of four (4) years. The Athlete’s period of Ineligibility began on 25 August 2025, the date he was placed on mandatory provisional suspension. He may return to participation in sport from 25 August 2029.

James Truter

Golf | Three (3) months sanction

Following an In-Competition test conducted on James Truter (the “Athlete”) on 26 January 2026 at the South African Amateur Championship, the Athlete submitted to testing but failed to fully comply with a sample collection procedure by not submitting the additional 15ml required to meet the minimum 90ml of urine into the sample collection vessel.

In terms of the World Anti-Doping Code (“WADC”), Evading, Refusing or Failing to submit to Sample collection are classified as an Article 2.3 Anti-Doping Rule Violations.

The Athlete accepted the sanction of three (3) months, waiving his right to a hearing and agreeing to the Consequences applicable under for his failure to comply. The Athlete’s period of Ineligibility began on 1 August 2026 (the date he accepted the sanction) and will be effective up to and including 1 November 2026.
