The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport(SAIDS) imposed the following sanctions for the period of May and June 2026.

Thomas Van Wyk

Cycling | Twenty-seven (27) month sanction

SAIDS attempted an Out-of-Competition test on Thomas van Wyk (the “Athlete”) on 2 November 2025. The Athlete failed to submit to the sample collection process.

The Athlete was charged with a violation in terms of Article 2.3 of the ADR, “Evading, Refusing or Failing to Submit to Sample Collection by an Athlete,” without compelling justification after notification by a duly authorized Person. The Athlete waived his right to a hearing.

SAIDS imposed a period of Ineligibility of 27 months based on the fact that the Athlete had accepted these Consequences and provided evidence in mitigation of the mandatory sanction.

The Athlete’s period of Ineligibility began on 19 June 2026 (the date he accepted the period of Ineligibility) and will be effective up to and including 18 September 2028.
