The South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport(SAIDS) imposed the following sanctions for the period of July 2026.
Ranti Dikgale
Athletics | Three (3) year sanction
Following an In-Competition test conducted on Ranti Dikgale (the “Athlete”) on 14 March 2026 at the Athletics Gauteng North Track and Field Championships, the Athlete tested positive for Exogenous Origin of the Target Compounds of Testosterone in his urine Sample.
In terms of the World Anti-Doping Code (“WADC”) Prohibited List 2026, Testosterone is classified under Category S1.1 (Anabolic Androgenic Steroids), which is prohibited at all times (In- and Out-Of-Competition).
The Athlete accepted the sanction of four (4) years, which was subsequently reduced to three (3) years based on his early admission of the anti-doping rule violation under Article 10.8.1 of the SAIDS Rules. The Athlete’s period of Ineligibility began on 22 May 2026 (the date he was notified of his mandatory Provisional Suspension) and will be effective up to and including 21 May 2029.
Thapelo Malatji
Weightlifting | Three (3) year sanction
Following an In-Competition test conducted on Thapelo Malatji (the “Athlete”) on 29 November 2025 at the South African Senior Weightlifting Championship, the Athlete tested positive for the presence of Epitrenbolone in his urine Sample.
In terms of the World Anti-Doping Code (“WADC”) Prohibited List 2026, Epitrenbolone is classified under Category S1.1 (Anabolic Androgenic Steroids), which is prohibited at all times (In- and Out-Of-Competition).
The Athlete accepted the sanction of four (4) years, which was subsequently reduced to three (3) years based on his early admission of the anti-doping rule violation under Article 10.8.1 of the SAIDS Rules. The Athlete’s period of Ineligibility began on 20 January 2026 (the date he was notified of his mandatory Provisional Suspension) and will be effective up to and including midnight of 19 January 2029.
