Batavia scored seven unanswered runs over the final four innings to pull away from the Elmira Pioneers 10-4 Thursday at Dwyer Stadium.The Muckdogs took a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-RBI single to right field by Jackson Inman. Elmira tied it in the fourth on a two-run error, but Myles Monell answered with an RBI single to put Batavia back in front 3-2.The Pioneers tied it again when Brett Baker hit a solo home run over the right field wall. Then Batavia took over for good.Glenn Brooks tripled home two runs in the fifth, and James Quintero added an RBI single in the same inning to push the lead to 6-3. Jalen Roque singled home Evan Brock in the seventh, and Brooks scored on an error to make it 8-3. Cooper Russell was hit by a pitch to drive in a run in the eighth, and Brock grounded into a double play that allowed Jalen David to score, setting the final at 10-4. Jack Aylward hit a solo home run for Elmira in the eighth.Brooks led Batavia, going 1 for 3 with a triple, two stolen bases, two RBIs and two runs scored. Quintero went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Inman went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, a run and a walk. Russell went 2 for 3 with an RBI, a stolen base, a run and a walk.Dean Hoshide earned the win, throwing 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. Landen Burch took the loss, throwing five innings with eight strikeouts.Batavia hosts the Buffalo Diesel on Sunday, July 5 at 4:05 p.m. for Bark in the Park Night.
