The Batavia Muckdogs scored three runs before Newark recorded an out, but the Pilots rallied for 15 runs and handed Batavia an 8-run loss Sunday.Jackson Inman opened the scoring with a 2-RBI double to left, and James Quintero followed with an RBI single to left-center to put the Muckdogs up 3-0 after a half inning. Newark answered with five runs on a hit by pitch, a Luke Brasell 2-RBI double and a Holden Forney 2-RBI single to take a 5-3 lead.Batavia retook the lead in the second. Inman drove in Jacob Veczko on a fielder's choice, a double steal scored Jalen David, Evan Brock added an RBI single, and a fielding error pushed the score to 7-5.The Pilots then took control. Forney added an RBI single, and Lucas Orlovitz hit a 2-RBI double in the third. In the fourth, a 2-run error on a fielder's choice, a Forney 2-RBI double and a Nicolas Nelson sacrifice fly put Newark ahead 13-7. The Pilots scored twice more in the final inning. Brock's RBI single in the seventh was the Muckdogs' only response.Forney led Newark, going 4 for 4 with a double, a walk, 2 runs and 5 RBIs. For Batavia, Veczko went 3 for 4 with a double. David went 1 for 4 with 2 runs, a walk and 2 stolen bases, pushing his league-leading total to 25.Brolin Haley earned his first win of the season, throwing 4.1 innings with 3 strikeouts and allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits.
