The Batavia Muckdogs overcame a massive mid-game surge from the Jamestown Tarp Skunks, relying on a balanced offensive attack and timely hits to secure an 8-6 victory on Wednesday night. In a game marked by a 48-minute rain delay, the Muckdogs built an early lead and successfully fended off a late-inning comeback attempt to defend their home turf.While Batavia controlled the early momentum, the game’s tension peaked in the 6th inning. After being held scoreless for 5 innings, the Tarp Skunks finally broke through against the Muckdogs' bullpen. Following an RBI double by Grant Moore, Dom Costello delivered a seismic blow, crushing a 4-run home run to right field that suddenly slashed the Muckdogs' 6-0 lead to just a single run. However, Batavia immediately reclaimed the momentum in the bottom half of the inning when Kyle Vaughn answered with a solo home run, providing the crucial insurance run that prevented the Tarp Skunks from completing their rally.Muckdogs offense, Glenn Brooks provided the heavy lifting by driving in four of the team's 8 runs.
