It was the only lead they would have.Batavia erupted for six runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Joey Socorro, Kyle Vaughn and Jalen Roque, then added two more in the second on a Myles Monell sacrifice fly and another Vaughn RBI single to make it 8-1. Braeden Eye added a run-scoring groundout in the sixth to set the final at 9-1.Vaughn led the offense, going 3 for 3 with three RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored. Roque went 1 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base. Cooper Russell reached base five times, finishing 1 for 2 with three runs, two walks and a stolen base.Jackson Reid earned the win, throwing two innings and striking out three while allowing just two hits. Aiden Gruber took the loss.Batavia hosts the Elmira Pioneers tomorrow, July 3, at 6:30 p.m. for Friends and Family Night with postgame fireworks.
